I am being spoilt rotten today and I am loving every minute of it. This is the first time I have really experienced a proper Mother’s Day and I am so thankful to my KoD and my boys for making it so special – cards and flowers and chocolates, extra hugs, and not being allowed to do a thing except chill and relax. Bliss.
Today I want to thank my mum for raising me and putting up with my antics as I morphed from cute little kid into rambunctious hellion. Now that I have teenagers of my own, I sympathize even more with my mum. However, I am told teenage boys aint got nuthin’ on teenage girls….
I also want to shout out to all my other mommies and soul sisters. I have been so blessed in my life to be surrounded by strong women who have advised and mentored me, been there for me, shown by example the right way to live. I honour you all (and those who have passed on) today – I could not be the woman that I am without you.
My boys – without them I would not be Ima, I would not be celebrating this wonderful holiday.
- Lenny – the one whose birth made me a mother, made my mum a grandma – almost 16, so tall, so grown up, but still my child.
- Squiggy – today he wished me happy birthday and happy anniversary and made me coffee – he’s just such a wonderful handful.
- HockeyFan – Mr Socialite, a lawyer in training, in such a rush to grow up.
- Chatterbox – my baby, almost 9, so eager to please and so in awe of his big brothers even though they have no patience for him – this one still cuddles with me.
Sometimes I take a step back and look at them – and I am in awe of the blessings that we have.
To my KoD – you are my rock. Your love and constant support means the world to me, and your love for the boys warms my heart. Sharing my life with you has made me a better person and a better mother. A happier mother. Knowing that I have you to lean on and to talk to – knowing I am not alone – is the best gift that I could ever have received.
Thank you G-d for all your blessings, today and everyday.
